St. Teresa’s School had an exciting visit from an important Catholic leader on November 10, 2020. The new Bishop of Savannah, Bishop Stephen D. Parkes, visited Albany and said morning Mass at St. Teresa’s Church before heading over to visit our students at St. Teresa’s School. He was able to walk around the whole school and visit all the classes. He prayed over each class and asked the students about their day.
STS has been prepping for his visit for some time. Students made cards and banners to welcome the new Bishop and displayed special projects and works of art for him to see.
Bishop Stephen D. Parkes is the 15th Bishop of the Diocese of Savannah and was appointed by Pope Francis on July 8, 2020. He was consecrated and installed on September 23, 2020 at the Cathedral Basilica of St. John the Baptist in Savannah.
After his visit to the school, Bishop Parkes met with the Albany Deanery and our church community outreach social services St. Claire’s and Neighbors in Need.
